ABOUT
Boris Kralj grew up in Germany as the child of Yugoslav guest workers. From an early age, he discovered photography as a means of expression, a way to visually reflect his surroundings and his origins. In 2000, he moved to Berlin, where he completed his studies in photography and has since worked both artistically and commercially. His personal history continues to serve as a central source of inspiration.
His style is contemporary, restrained and modern. He combines precise image composition with a clean, often minimalist perspective on fashion and portraiture. His photographs feel considered and calm, carrying a subtle emotional charge. Among his subjects are prominent figures from the worlds of art and film, including Susan Sarandon, Vivienne Westwood, Bryan Ferry and Karl Lagerfeld.
A landmark work is his photobook My Belgrade, a visual journey tracing the footprints of a vanished country, the former Yugoslavia. The project weaves personal memory with historical reflection, and reveals Kralj’s ability to translate intimate narratives into powerful visual form. For this long term project he received a grant, was recognised by representatives from both politics and the arts, and has been shown in multiple exhibitions at home and abroad.
Since 2024, Boris Kralj is also the founder of the model agency www.vvookmanagement.com, focused on diverse, progressive talent and creating creative synergies between photography and model casting. He also works as a casting director and lecturer, and is based in Berlin.
